UFC 303 was last weekend and Alex Pereira once again saved the card and stole the show with his devastating knockout over Jiri Prochazka which was a repeat of their previous incounter in which Alex won the world title. Alex showed great class and skill in that performance where he beat Jiri while injured having two broken toes and winning via a headkick knockout. The question now which everyone in the MMA community has, is what is next for the UFC Light Heavyweight championship.
Magomed Ankalaev

The obvious choice for Alex is the next number one contender Magomed Ankalaev who is currently on an over 10 fight unbeaten streak in the Light Heavyweight division having victories against Johnny Walker, Anthony Smith, Volkan Oezdamir and that split draw which many thought he won against Jan Blachowicz for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight championship.
Ankalaev poses a real dangerous threat against Alex Pereira as Ankalaev is an expert in wrestling which is the real point of weakness for Poatan. Magomed has also shown that he is dangerous on the feet as are many Dagestani fighters as the threat for the takedown really intensifies the danger on the feet as their opponents are always cautious of the takedown.
This is a great fight for Alex and the Light Heavyweight division to show how much Alex has improved in that wrestling department however, it may be the most dangerous while also being not the biggest possible fight available.
Tom Aspinall

The UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall goes against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 in Manchester which will not be an easy fight by any means however, there has been talk of Poatan and Aspinall facing each other in that octagon in the future. Jon Jones is set on facing Stipe Miocic which means that Aspinall will have to set out until atleast next year to get back into the octagon and a fight with Poatan could make all the sense in the world.
Alex Pereira has mentioned many times thoughtout last week even in his post fight interview, that he wants to move up to heavyweight and become a 3 division UFC champion which is a task that no man or woman has accomplished in the sport at this moment. This would boost the legacy of Poatan and winning the interim belt would be a key step in making the 3 division dream a reality but there’s one thing that is more important than the interim belt and that is the undisputed Heavyweight championship of the world.
Jon Jones

The consensus greatest fighter of all time, Jon Jones has been out with an injury for nearly a year and is going to make his return against Stipe Miocic most likely at Madison Square Garden while defending his UFC Heavyweight championship. Jones however has recieved a lot of critcism by MMA fans and media for not relinquishing his belt and letting the division move forward. He also has recieved criticism for not wanting to fight the interim champion Tom Aspinall as he has previously said that it is not a big fight. However, there is a huge fight for Jones that he cannot turn down.
Alex Pereira vs Jon Jones is a mega fight. Both men are world champions, both men have incredible legacies in the sport and both are usually fan favourites. Jones would also feel very confident in this fight as he has the clear advantage in the wrestling and size department that we could see Jones make a real example out of Pereira. We will have to wait and see what way Pereira will go and who the UFC will book for him next.
Let us know what you think and who do YOU want to face Poatan next!
