Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov is back… as a corner man.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is considered the greatest lightweight of all time and would have continued his reign if not for his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s death which shocked the MMA world. Khabib retired and focused on coaching his team which included current UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, Tagir Ulanbekov and Zubaira Tukhagov but in recent years Khabib even took a step away from that but that all changes on Saturday night.
Islam Makhachev will defend his UFC lightweight championship against Dustin Poirier in Newark, New Jersey at UFC 302 and in this fight, Khabib will be in his corner.
“He’s going to be in my corner,” Makhachev tells UFC’s media team as he is signing posters for fight promotion. This will be the first time Khabib has been in his corner since Islam defeated former champion Charles Oliveria at UFC 280 to win the world championship in which he thanked Khabib for helping make him who he is in the post fight interview.
Let us know what you think about Khabib coming back in the corner of Islam Makhachev and are you happy to see The Eagle back within MMA at any capacity.
