Jack Catterall defeated Josh Taylor via unanimous decision over the weekend and has finally written the wrong of 2022 where many thought Jack Catterall was robbed of the undisputed championship due to some inadequte judging. The scorecards were 117-111 x2 and 116-113 which many felt were unfair scorecards for Josh Taylor as the fight was closer than what the two judges who scored it 117-111 felt like it was.

In the early portions of the fight, Catterall showed aggression and was using his jab to perfection while landing the cleaner power shots however Josh Taylor stuck in there and won the middle portion of the fight to bring it in my opinion between 2 rounds. However, Jack Catterall landed a bomb in the 11th round which hurt Josh Taylor significantly and fair play to Josh Taylor for sticking in there as many would have been out from this.

The scorecards were read and Catterall became the victor. One person who was not happy about this result was 92 year old promoter Bob Arum who claimed he will never have one of his fighters fight in the UK with the board of control again. Josh Taylor gave Catterall his props and called for a trilogy bout which many would not complain for.

In the aftermath of the contest, Jack Catterall had stated that he now wants world championship fights and even took to X where he stated he wants to fight WBO champion Teofimo Lopez which would be a huge fight for “El Gato” to make a name for himself worldwide.
